About Domenic

Domenic Mobilio's career with the 86ers/Whitecaps spanned 15 seasons, as he established himself as the most prolific goal scorer in the history of Canadian professional soccer.  He led Vancouver in scoring six times, and was a key factor in the team's four consecutive Canadian Soccer League Championships.

His total of 170 career goals for the club is more than double that of the next nearest player, and ranks second on the North American all time scoring list, behind only New York Cosmos legend Giorgio Chinaglia.

Domenic was just 18 when he became the very first player to sign for the Vancouver 86ers launching a new era in Vancouver professional soccer.  Domenic went on to own most of Vancouver's scoring records, including most goals in a season (26), most game winning goals (41), longest goal scoring streak (7 games), and most career hat tricks (11).

Six times in his career Domenic was named an All-Star (three times each in the CSL and A-League), and he was the CSL's 1991 MVP and top scorer.  He earned 25 caps playing for Canada's National Team from 1986 to 1997, scoring three goals.  he was also an accomplished indoor player, starting in 1989 when he was named MSL Newcomer of the Year.

Domenic retired from outdoor play prior to the 2001 season, at which time the Whitecaps retired his famous #10 jersey.  However, Domenic returned to the club as an assistant coach in 2002, and played seventeen minutes in one final game.  That brought his career tally to 286 games and 21,660 minutes played, completing a legacy of excellence that may never be surpassed.  And most recently Domenic has been inducted into both the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame and the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame.

In 2001, Domenic became the technical director of Coquitlam City Soccer Association and realized that not only was he a natural for coaching but also had an uncanny ability of reaching out to the children and making them realize their unlimited potential.  Domenic would always say "It's all about the kids."
