Overview and Purpose
Domenic Mobilio was a cherished family member and a friend to many. Born in Vancouver Jan 14 1969. Domenic was known for his generosity and ready smile. He was one of those rare individuals whose enthusiasm and zest for life were infectious. he had a way of making other people feel good, and he earned a special place in the hearts of all he met. True to his Italian-Canadian heritage, he was devoted to his family, his community and his passion-soccer.
Both his business and personal life revolved around soccer. His extensive circle of friends spanned all generations and walks of life. Many of us continue to meet new people in our personal lives, only to find that they knew Domenic and were shocked and saddened by his passing.
The sudden loss of Domenic in the winter of 2004 left a void in his community, his workplace and in the lives of the many people who called them their friend. He acted as a catalyst, and many in his wide circle realized that they were friends simply because Domenic had brought them together.
To honour Domenic and his memory, a group of his family members and friends decided that it woudl be fitting to commemorate his life and contribution annually with a day of fun and friendship. Such an occasion would also serve to enable Domenic's friends and family to continue to help others as he had always done. Out of this grew the Domenic Mobilio Foundation.
Our objective is to keep Domenic's legacy alive by creating the Domenic Mobilio Scholarship fund and the funding of various soccer associations to allow under privileged children an opportunity to enjoy the sport that Domenic loved so much. Also additional funds will be donated to many different children's charities and foundations.
Thanks to the generosity of our many sponsors and golfers, the Domenic Mobilio Golf Classic has been incredibly successful and has enabled us to fund 32 talented students through the Domenic Mobilio Scholarship fund. In addition to this we have had the honor and privilege of working with KidSport B.C., a program of Sport B.C. designed to "remove the financial obstacles that prevent under privileged children from playing sport in B.C.", the Michael Cuccione Foundation which is "Making a Difference" in the fight against childhood cancer, the Heart and Stroke Foundation which slogan reads "Great things happen when you put your heart into it" and Ronald McDonald House "The house built by love". As we grow with your continued support, it will not only allow us to continue our relationships with these great causes but also allow us the ability to work with many other different children's charities and foundations.
